I got my hands on the “In Symphony” cd by Sissel Kyrkjebø. Extremely talented female vocal artist. One of the finest in the world imho.
Anyway, I realized not until the 11th track that there was a problem with the disc itself. Clipping. And upon revisiting the other tracks using a waveform editor I find the same phenomena. The strange thing however is that most of the clipping is not taking place on my side but is rather already mastered to the disc .. i.e. the waveform is cut off but only at like 99% of maximum volume. It seems to me someone messed up in the studio or at the recording session (which was live).
I’ve sent a mail to UniversalMusic explaining the situation since I figured it was important. Maybe no one else noticed? (that seems impossible) Or maybe the recording got messed up and the live performance couldn’t be reproduced?
What a shame since I am such a big fan of Sissels work.
The disc contains 14 tracks, among the better-known are “Innerst I Sjelen”, “Se Ilden Lyse (Fire in my Heart)”, “Where The Lost Ones Go”, “Mitt Hjerte Alltid Vanker” and “Eg Ser”. So beautiful at times, it can bring anyone to tears. It has been out a while now but better late than never. This is part of the essential music collection.
Eg ser du er redd
Men eg kan ikkje gå I døden for deg
Du må smake han sjøl
Men eg gjer død til liv for deg
Eg gjer død til liv for deg
Eg har gjort død til liv for deg
