Based on the short story by H.P. Lovecraft. Even if has been reworked a bit the main element is still in there - the spooky coastal town where people are not-so-friendly to strangers and worship the sea creature Dagon.
A sad direct-to-video release I am afraid. This could have been so much more. Based on the reviews I’ve seen there was no chance in hell this could ever be a smash hit. There is still a chance for a limited release here in Sweden but the question is if I should really care?
Just another bad adaptation of a Lovecraft story. The best lovecraftian movies are still “Re-Animator”, “The Thing” and “In the Mouth of Madness”. The latter two only share references and uses Lovecrafts works as a source for inspiration however. So essentially one (1!) decent movie produced out of at least 10-20 possible script ideas. That is low.
