Thanks for the heads-up! I was just wondering what you were up to the other day.
Indeed, the new "Expedition Tracker" is just marvellous. Good luck with the preparations!

The home page now contains the dispatches, the site I think is better organized now...

From Costa Rica (IF we can ever leave Portugal), I will continue south to Aconcagua while Tim Harvey continues north to Vancouver. to finish his Vancouver to Vancouver journey. More is on the web site about this: http://www.Around-n-Over.org

Enjoy.

Erden.

Also, on the web site, I am posting dispatches that I intend to continue during the journey - this was intended as a web log. One can remain in the know by either signing up to our Yahoo!Group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/gro...
or using the RSS features provided in the same. It is a matter of when for us to start a BLOG, but this set up may endure for a while given so much else that is going on.

Best,
We are considering a tracking device to be installed on the boat. There are such devices that ping with the GPS coordinate of the boat on a preset interval via a satellite connection. This is also important for retrieving the boat in case I have to abandon it for some reason.

On land, I probably will be posting my GPS coordinates as I go via satellite phone.

I will look into the link that you suggested, thank you so much for the words of encouragement.
Thanks for the heads-up. I'll look into it and post something on the front page. I'll be sure to spread the word.

Good luck with the preparations for your next leg in the summits project. I really wish I could be there with you. Pushing the limits and inspiring people.

The entire project is mindboggling. Go for it!

One more thing, it would be great if the around-and-over website had some sort of weblog that could be updated as time went by on the road and at sea (ok, maybe not at sea). And / or some sort of geo-coded imaging device:
http://www.wwmx.org/Links.aspx
Or perhaps some sort of GPS tracking thingy that could plot your position on a map as you go. At least roughly. That would be really nice. As for specific technical solutions I'm not sure but it should be feasible.

The light that burns twice as bright is more likely to illuminate more lives. Göran did just that.

He was sponsoring a school in Nepal: the Göran Kropp Bishwa Darshan Primary School. We are now aiming to sure that this school is in good shape through our non-profit organization Around-n-Over.

A human powered journey to circumnavigate the world is in progress as we speak called "Six Summits Project." It includes climbing the highest summits on six continents that would be touched during the circumnavigation. Upon landfall, the approach to these summits will be a la Göran Kropp, by towing all the climbing gear on a bicycle.

The main goal of the non-profit is to put this journey into classrooms through lesson plans, emails and regular updates on our web site. We will showcase technology and virtual education as can be managed on such a journey.

Follow us at http://www.around-n-over.org, and do pass on the word to get the message into classrooms, boardrooms and living rooms.
