T3 and Daredevil ramblings

While browsing through TheArnoldFans I came upon some very interesting pieces of information. For one it seems that T3 has gotten a preliminary rating indicating that the final movie will carry an “R” rating. Interesting indeed. Lets face it, it’s “T3” .. not “Sound of Music 3”. Anything less than R would be a bad omen and cause fans to abandon the franchise. The trailer is rumoured to be attached to “The two towers” later this year.
Another rumour is that MGM will be reissuing T1 and T2 in a special edition 2-pack gift set prior to the theatrical release of T3. Might be a good time to pick those two movies up since I haven’t already for different reasons.

The DareDevil picture archive at LatinoReview is updated with a new hi res poster from the movie. Might be a worthwhile movie after all. There is no denying a lot of the thrill is seeing Kingpin in action. Amazing choice of actor for that role btw. You are so lost in the comic that you become a little nitpicky. I remember some of the X-Men cast and Spider-Man’s webshooters for example. There is thread about this here. I’d take Michael Clarke Duncan, who I know can act, over being true to the comic any day.
Still, it you are a bit pessimistic, you can see the choice like this. Kingpin has been transformed for the 21st century. In the comic he was stereotypical chicago type gangster who grew up on the streets and built a crime empire for himself. Now we move to another really stereotypical and equally damaging image - namely African-American male who grows up on the streets and builds the same empire of crime. While you might at first think it is a sign of egalitarian attitudes I also see this like bad stereotypical view. “Can African-American males only succeed through choosing the way of crime?”. You get the point. Being cast as the bad guy It is also a very different thing from being cast as a hero. From my point of view I would much rather have made Daredevil to have a different ethnicity.
But that is just my 2 cents worth of psychology. From the viewpoint of a movie goer I think this choice was excellent.
