Disgruntled opticians on the move

There was a report on Swedish television yesterday about the “new” trend to purchase contact lenses from the internet (as opposed to going to the optician). Some jerk had made a general complaint to the national board of health to try and stifle the competition. At least that is what he kept saying, it was all about fair competition. Only secondarily did he address the possible health risks.
Well, good luck shithead! Thank god for the European Union .. since it is illegal to sell lenses without a prescription in Sweden, we can buy them from the Netherlands instead. If you ask me, that is the best thing about being in a union with other states – if you don’t like the rules, you can always bypass them. And as you probably know, Sweden has more rules than most other countries. And even if rules are a must sometimes, it helps if they make sense and do not damage consumer interests.
