Quite an interesting week for those of us with high end gfx accelerators. Hehe.
A new set of Catalyst drivers is out. The fresh 3.1 driver claims to add from 2-40% performance depending on the specific game. Unlike some other players on the hardware scene (Matrox and nVidia) ATI seems to take the situation seriously. They keep updating the drivers and the drivers actually fix stuff. And they still dominate with their support for DirectX 9. In retrospect I’m not one bit sorry that I dropped the G400 nor that I never purchased a Ti4200.

Get 3dMark03 here (171MB). I don’t know of any crack yet but there will be. Just hang in there and keep your eyes on Astalavista. There is a review up over at Rage3d if you would like to know more about 3dmark as well as see some preliminary Radeon scores.
Edit: On second thought, the main servers seem to be under heavy load. See if you can find the file on FileMirrors instead.
I also noticed that there was a patch released for Sim City 4 (v. 1.0.242.0). Among the numerous fixes is full support for the R300 (Radeon 9500/9700/Pro). Get it here. There is a fresh no-cd patch over at GameCopyWorld. This only for the US version though …
