I know that I’ve been ranting a lot about hacked DC++ clients in the past. Well, running a hacked client solves the bandwidth problem but it also creates a heap of new problems (like getting kicked by facist hubs). Now I have tracked down two standalone utils for that very same purpose —
Bandwidth Controller
NetLimiter
I must admit I haven’t tried either of them yet but they look promising (if you overlook the slightly negative user reports of totally blown operating systems). Applications like these could come in handy not only for “cheating” on DC but also for reserving bandwidth with respect to a webserver for example. Or preventing the very same from stealing too much bandwidth.
