SETI@home now in Phase II

Which means that they will try to follow up on promising signals. Three days is spent analyzing the top 200 or so signal candidates from Phase I. The probability that a signal is confirmed is minute but as they point out, at least now they have places where they can begin to look for ET signals. They now know WHERE the haystack COULD BE and that it PROBABLY contains a needle. That is always something.
The session should have ended today but there was a Solar flare yesterday so … they were “bumped”. The SETI team will wrap up their observation on Monday, March 24 in one continuous 14 hour pass.

It was quite a while since I ran the SETI@home software but I am proud to have been part of the search. What would life be without a little adventure and mystery .. ?

Now where is Jodie Foster anyway? ;)
