Stupidity rules …

Stupid link of the day:
Happy tunes help radio listeners to stay upbeat
“Songs that could remind listeners of war are being banned by radio stations ..”.

Stupid but very truthful cartoon of the day:

Cartoon by Mike Keefe

Most people still don’t get it though. They use ad hoc tactics to justify war, up to a point where no one knows where and why it even started. For breaking news, visit THE AGONIST.

Stupid things that we DO know:

    - The Basra “uprising” was greatly exaggerated.

    - US tanks can be destroyed. Big surprise

    - About 50.000 - 150.000 more US troops are en route to the area.

    - About 50% of all “smart” ammunitions have been used up for nothing.

    - The US is trying to bring down the Iraqi television and phone system. They obviously don’t like bad press. Especially when it’s telling the truth. The same goes for coalition media that are having a hard time.

    - Iranian groups want coalition troops gone as soon as Saddam is toppled.

    - Iran is just itching for a reason to attack (anyone really …).

    - North Korea threatened. Missile tests. Breaks communications with US/UN.

    - US will change bombing tactics - carpet layout. In with the B-52s.

    - UN might try to “resurrect” the general assembly.

    - US stock markets falling.

    - US war spending bill includes $10billion for Israel.

    - No traces of WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction). Early report turned out to be false. Only weapons found are those of mass delusion on the US side.

    - US tries once more to bribe Turkey as well as buy votes from destitute UN member states.

    - The US Petroleum prices are going up, up, up …

    - The US doesn’t want to pay the fee to the UN anymore. Just like in the old days. It’s interesting that the US is always complaining that the UN is inadequate. This is largely so because the US is not contributing and always putting its own interests before the UN. AD HOC!

Furthermore, the bridges remain riddle. Reports say that every bridge on the way to Baghdad is wired with explosives. Previous reports claimed that no such traps existed. It’s somewhat of a mystery why no bridges (at least that we have heard of) have been blown. Maybe the coalition forces are keeping it under wraps, or they just haven’t captured any bridges at all. Or maybe the Iraqi army slipped up once or twice. I guess it wont happen again …
It is widely believed that Iraq will attempts the same tactics as in the Iran - Iraq war, namely to cripple the bridges and flood the plains surrounding Baghdad. For all that we know they are just keeping their cool, waiting for the enemy to draw closer. As was painfully demonstrated yesterday, the Iraqi forces have little chance in open desert. The bringing of reinforcements at this time can not be a good sign. Either they would never have brought them in, or they would have done it weeks ago. Remember that many will take weeks just to arrive in Iraq. We’re in for a long haul.

What the US needs to do is to win this war NOW. And then they must immediately resume cooperation with the UN and relinquish all power in Iraq to the Iraqi people. They must let the UN organize an election ASAP and oversee the re-building process. They must solely pay for the destruction that they have caused but on the other hand they can not and should not deny specific countries (like France and Russia) to participate. I am sure that the European Union will be glad to help if they are asked as well. The important thing is that this war doesn’t lead to more nonsense.

I’m dreaming of course. The US will do everything wrong just as they have so far.

Under no circumstances can they allow the exile government to take office. There needs to be a “real” democracy and not a US puppet regime. It’s really too bad since the exiles could have been useful. At least before the US and big oil got to them. You just can’t engineer a government because that is by definition not a democracy either. Kind of makes you wonder what everyone is fighting for.
