Battleangel

It is kind of strange that this site is called “battleangel.org”, yet I never talk much about the Gunnm manga. Or any Manga for that matter. Or Anime. Well, I suppose I’m trying not to go overboard with this particular hobby of mine.

While browsing the great depths of the Net I found these exquisite Last Order (Gunnm) scans by Mangaproject.cjb.net.
~730×1100x256 jpeg, volumes 1 - 2 (chapter 1 - 12). And with a classy translation as well. Since the official english printed translation is taking so long, my patience is running out with Viz. This will have to do for now.

Other than this things have been pretty quiet on this front for a long time. So, maybe I’m not such a big Anime / manga fan after all. In fact, I try to avoid fanaticism altogether nowadays. Why? Because you look really silly in the eyes of others. And you you end up knowing quite a lot about nothing at all. What I mean to say is that I still read Wolverine There is no conflict here unlike what some people indicate. There really isn’t. Some people just like to drum up controversies where there are none.

Also, I would like to (once again) recommend the Yoko Kanno Project. Indeed an extremely talented woman. She also happens to be the one that made the soundtrack for Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex.
I talked about the series last year when it was still in production. There were some concerns as to how well the quasi-intellectual story from GITS would fit into the shorter time frame of SAC. Well, after having taken a sneak peak at the series I can honestly say that it really works. Well worth looking into if you like cyborgs, futuristic skylines or action with a slight touch of philosophy.
I still wonder if there was any truth to the rumour that the Wachowskis wanted to transform GITS to the big screen. I wish.
