Stuff - gaming etc.

I think I’ve finally solved the slight stuttering with Battlefield and UT2003. I got the freshest set of Omega drivers and removed some of the background applications (like the no-ip DUC client, the ATI control panel and a few others). Not a sign of good troubleshooting skills I know, but I just got fed up and wanted to get rid of the problem. Panning in various games is still a bit shaky but no way near what I would call stuttering.

The SARS virus seems to be having a field day. Kind of what you would expect after a while with this pattern of infection. This could bring down air line prices to that region considerably. So, if you haven’t been to SE Asia this is your big chance.

I’m still considering a headset for the main setup. Instead of getting a new pair of speakers that is. It is just so much more anti-social.
Main candidate is still the PLANTRONICS AUDIO 90. The KOSS equivalent is out of the question because of the stupid design. From what I’ve heard it is more or less impossible to wear during extended sessions because of the pressure it puts on the ears and cranium.
Other than this I am in need of cheap rounded ATA cables and a bigger hard drive. This Direct Connect frenzy is taking its toll. I never thought I would run out of 60 GB that rapidly. Plus the fact that there is something wrong with this drive (it’s making funny noises as I’ve mentioned) and it would be nice to copy the entire contents to a new drive and send this once back to IBM. In any case this drive is pretty stuffed right now. A new keyboard would be nice also since I have overlooked that for a long time. Up until the point when I can’t do reliable quad-jumps in UT2003 using spacebar ;)

Hmmm. I’m itching to redesign this webpage. It has been running for almost a year soon and I feel it could use a face lift.
I also have a couple of new ideas in store. One is the phpBB Fetch All which gathers information from phpBB and enables integration with any website (using php). Yeah yeah, I realize that I’m the only one posting on this board but that could change. The point isn’t to have lengthy discussion - the point is to learn about php programming. Get it?
Having a poll would be nice also. Not that it matters but it feels high tech to have one. Plus I should move the Shoutbox data to the database (it is currently in a flat file).

Damn! Planetside entered public beta and I missed the whole launch. I’m posting a request right now. It seems that the offer is still valid … hmmm. From what I gather, Sony has enlisted some 30.000 beta testers this time around. That is pretty massive. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. I deserve to be in that beta! Damn. Damn. Damn.

According to Blue’s News, another massive multiplayer game, namely EVE Online: The Second Genesis (web) has gone gold. Right on time as opposed to Planetside *cough*. Will probably kiss Freelancer’s ass. This summer could mean a quagmire (:)) of multiplayer games. Argh!

And about UT2003, the 2225 beta patch seems to have gone hot. The same goes for the “bright skins” mod. Everything can be found over at 3dGamers.
