I have to say I’m a bit worried about Kenta taking over after his father (Kinji Fukasaku) passed away earlier this year. Will he pull it off? I hope so. But then again I do not know what to expect. How do you do a sequel to Battle Royale anyway? It’s not easy, that’s for sure.
Battle Royale 2 will premiere on the 5th of July (at least in Japan). I have no idea if this movie will have a theatrical release elsewhere. Can it be that the theme is still too controversial? Especially with the new “September 11” reference (office buildings levelled a la Fight Club). I mean, last time around it was “just” children killing each other in gruesome ways. This time they’ve raised the stakes a bit.

This time it’s war.
