Battleangel

Once a while there comes a movie that is worth watching. X2 is certainly going to be among the top five movies of this year. There are more characters, more action and generally more of everything. The movie is half an hour longer than the first one and this is obviously good news. To round it off, all the reviews I’ve seen so far have been VERY positive for a change.

Conclusion: Impressive. A bit comical at times and not as dark as maybe I would have liked to be. But nevetheless one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. The slow and ponderous storytelling just makes it all the better. It’s sad that almost none of the characters are given time to tell their story but maybe that is what makes the concept so appealing?
I know that there is talk of an upcoming Wolverine feature for instance. The risk is that there will be too much of the same stuff. No matter how interesting one character seems, there is only so much space for development. With X-Men you get loads of fun characters who all have tons to reveal and will indeed with time. You end up feeling slightly dissappointed because you know there is more to tell. And that is a big strength.
If there is one character in particular that I would like to see more of it’s Lady Deathstrike. Even if she doesn’t seem to be cyborg in the movie.
