Infogrames becomes Atari

Deja vu anyone? Nice to see that they are recycling the brand, even if it has been dead for almost a decade. Time flies you know. It feels like yesterday to me. A piece of childhood lost in the Atari universe. I hope they not only adopt the name but also try and revive some of the classic games that made the Atari platform stand out. I’m going to bring out my Atari 520 STFM from storage and make a list of vintage classics some day.

It makes me sad in a way, not only because time has passed me by, but mainly since .. I am overwhelmed by a strange feeling of embarrassment. I mean, what did I know back then. I was just a kid. No knowledge of the world around me. Wasting time and never reaching perfection. Not even close. Can you imagine going to Paris and the best part being two new Atari games (Addams Family and Leander if I recall correctly). How small minded. So it’s not all fond memories from the “Atari days”. There is an overwhelming feeling of inadequacy deep down. And imperfection.
Must be this birthday crap that is getting to me. I don’t know what it is. I’ve been plagued by visions of death lately. Not so much mine but of those around me. And this fits in pretty well with the feeling the I have squabbled away time. Quality time that I can never get back. I didn’t know better. Mortality is catching up on me at last I suppose. Nothing lasts forever you know. And all these memories were triggered because of Atari. Nostalgia sucks.
