Sorry for the lack thereof.

HULK: I just saw the HULK. Felt kind of pointless. The ending wrapped up nicely and the drama was well constructed but the story itself had major problems. Maybe because the HULK character in itself has major story problems. It’s not a superhero story at heart. It’s just a tormented man that seeks to purge himself of his other self and spare the world of the HULK. Lee concentrated on the father/son-father/daughter relationship instead of having HULK save the world. It’s basically ICE STORM with a big green gamma powered monster at the front row.
The only major gripe I have is the extensive scenes with David Banner (Nolte). I think it should have gone another way and been far less playful. Even sci-fi has a point where is loses credibility. David’s transformation was one of those. Kind of like the “gratuitous shower scene” in many anime movies. It’s just like that .. gratuitous.

On the one hand it is Ang Lee and one of the best movies in years (certainly so in its genre). On the other hand it is a strange jumble of abstract intrigues that never really touch the audience. A flawed masterpiece. Worth watching .. but it might not work for the action fanatics. Mixing genres like this is bound to be misunderstood. HULK will leave a lasting impression, it will for the most part not keep you on the edge of your seat.

Kudos to whoever figured out the clever way to make up the science behind the movie. Naturally it has undergone quite a few changes since the original comic.

ZzZzzzz: Other than that I’m feeling kind of bored. Not much else to do except work and leeching movies and tv series. Hopefully I’ll get my ass over to Gothenburg on saturday but you never know. I’m having a lazy streak right now.
