Maybe you’ve been living under a rock and missed the brilliant GITS: Stand Alone Complex. I hope not. Anyway, there was a press release last week stating that the series had been extended from the original 26 to 52 episodes. At least if you should believe Bandai.

Also, Production IG (the animation company behind GITS) has been working hard on a full length feature, thus far referred to as INNOCENCE aka Ghost in the Shell 2. More or less anyway. The only thing we can be pretty sure about is that it will be every bit as weird (in a postive sense) as the original GITS. Mamoru Oshii’s work often leaves a bit to be desired when it comes to script and accessibility but always makes up for it with atmosphere and a mixed bag of philosophy. A cyborg love story. This is likely to be a hit in theaters. NOT. But I eagerly look forward to it.
