LifestreamOk. First of all I rarely mention my studies here. I don’t know why. Maybe because they have a rather somber tone and I sometimes wish to distance myself from them altogether. Anyway .. here’s the deal right now ..
I still haven’t completed the Methodology I course from last semester. Same goes for social psychology ii even though I did the extra assignment as requested. Also, I still have the basic psychology which I skipped because I believed it was only fair since I had already completed 3/4 of a much more extensive course on the same subject. I’m starting to think this is a bullshit program from a really clueless dept. of a really crappy university. But hey. Go ahead and prove me wrong. Anyone who think it’s ok to include three goddamn courses in methodology is probably in need of professional help. It’s like including a table tennis board in a first aid kit. It’s not even in the same dimension.
Blah. Anyway. New term and a whole new ballpark. Hopefully? Right now I’m working on an essay in sociology that is supposed to sum up the influence of modern mass media on society. Manipulation and artificial realities. That kind of stuff.
The more I think about it, the clearer in becomes how much more practical it would be to complete my education outside of this university. Preferably outside of Europe as well. I think most people are way too focused on the actual program and the “mandatory” courses that it holds. Why not just fill in the academic potholes with something useful. Maybe it’s time for me to start thinking outside the box ….
Nothing in life worth remembering happens without work. Changing where you are doesn’t get you away from that fact. Work is often mindless. But it is never wasted.

Yes. I completely agree with you there. Nothing changes when you move. And my point wasn’t to tour the world. In fact I’ve not been much for travelling at all these last couple of years. I’ve become very comfortable and I’d rather not go anywhere without a good reason.
The point was rather how social psychology is viewed in different parts of the world. Sorry for being unclear on this. Europe has a history of sociological research whereas the US has had a psychological profile to the subject. And while I’ve been tolerant so far, these methodology courses really shows where we are heading. And it’s nowhere near where I want to be. Of course you will always need some methodology, but as they say, in large enough quantities, anything can be a poison. Hehe. Do I seem impatient?
