Maybe. I found this outdated project page at sourceforge: PHP Mp3 DB Tool (phpmp3tool).

A simplistic program to convert a ASCII file (obtained from collectorz.com mp3 collector or similar program) to MySQL format, insert it in database and run reports from a web based engine, supports streaming of single mp3s and full albums.

Stupid idea? Maybe. But I’ve been looking for quite some time now and haven’t been able to come up with something better. So, I think I will give this a spin. At least it bridges the problem of getting the mp3 information into a mySQL database. The search and display engine could use an overhaul though. Not to mention the layout and design. But I think it could work if I cannibalize some code snippets and scale it to fit my design.
