LOL. I know it’s still not working 100%. Haven’t been able to fix the broken search function, mostly so because I haven’t tried very hard. The biggest problem is actually to catalogue the albums and files in some sensible way so that they show up in a logical order. And no amount of php programming can fix bad indexing.
As suggested by the PHPMP3 author, I installed MP3 Collector. Now, this is not a bad program, quite on the contrary, it’s just that it is damn difficult to get the output just the way you want it. You have to go over the collection to make sure it hasn’t screwed album names and stuff. So if anything looks broken it is actually the local file indexing that isn’t working. Mostly so because the program mixes folder information with id3 v1 and v2. It’s the only way to fill in the blanks. But it also creates massive problems. Like when someone used “name & name2” on all songs but one where they used “name and name2” instead. Ooops. And I can’t JUST use the folder information either. So what I’ll have to do is start again, scan every CD and then proof read the database. Luckily I only have to do it once.
