Just upgraded to v2.2 using the free upgrade on their webpage. WordWeb is probably the best english thesaurus/dictionary, word and anagram finder available today. New features include:

New: Pronunciations for many words
New: Maintains viewable list of words looked up
Expanded: Over 117 000 synonym sets and 142 000 root words
Expanded: Pattern matching word search in supplied 210 000 word list

What I like best with this software is that it is fast and compact. The interface feels very intuitive and as a non-native english speaker I feel it is more productive to use an english dictionary to look up words than to use an actual translator. Even though I can’t prove it, I believe that the use of WordWeb (since five or six years past) has greatly benefitted my linguistic skills.

Anyway. This is a must have at least for me. One of those applications that always follow shortly upon doing a fresh install of Windows.

February 2005: Version 3.3 is out and the software is as useful as ever.
