Summer’s end …

You can argue that summer withered away a long time ago. But today is the day that marks the end. And the beginning of the winter season. It is something that has been with me since childhood. For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a garden, and this day was always special. It was so because after this time, the garden lay idle for almost half a year. It was the day when everything was packed, cleaned up and prepared for the onslaught of winter.

The smell of cold, barren soil and once lush plants broken and faded. A scent of death. And the start of something else.
