The latest footwear fashion

Terrible. Just terrible. After visiting every sporting store in the city I am now unsure of how to proceed. I don’t know why I even bother to make a note of this. Maybe just so that I can look this post up ten years from now and realize that some things never change. In light of recent events (mobile phone or the lack of such) I must conclude that either there is a) something wrong with me or b) something wrong with everyone else.

Seriously though, I didn’t have this problem 5 years ago, at least not to the same extent. I don’t believe it has got anything to do directly with fashion or my questionable socialization. The most likely explanation is that it is my futile quest for perfection and rational choice that is rearing its ugly head (again). I suppose we see things in a different light as we grow up. It’s like that “Logical Song” by Supertramp.

Anyway, it’s information overload over here. I could need a “practical heuristics for dummies” or something. It’s so goddamn annoying when you can’t JUST get a pair of boots anymore. The real problem, however, is that I employ various ego saving schemes in the process. “It’s all the other people who are having issues” .. etc.

Tan Leather Stow HikerBack on topic. I’ve been searching for boots like the Salomon Exit Mid GTX (my old light hiking boot). Salomon has a new model out that is much like Exit but it is soooo overpriced that it ends up in the same division as medium hiking boots.
It is very much like the Black Nanook Pack Mid or Tan Leather Stow Hiker from Timberland. I’ve only been able to find the latter at local dealer however. Two or three years ago I would surely been able to find all three models and more. But now it seems that Clarks and other more “fashionable” brands and models have taken over the shelves. Or at least at this price level.
It is also interesting to note that at the moment, the Tan Leather Stow Hiker is $90 (ex S&H) from the Timberland webshop. Because of the current dollar rate this is almost HALF THE PRICE compared to a local dealer here in Sweden. Scary.

The way this is going I fear I will soon be back at Militaryshop. Ahh, the horror. The horror.
