projectcensored.org: Censored 2004: The Top 25 Censored Media Stories of 2002-2003
We are Project Censored located in Sonoma County.
The Primary Objective of Project Censored is to explore and publicize the extent of censorship in our society by locating stories about significant issues of which the public should be aware, but is not, for one reason or another. Thereby, the project hopes to stimulate responsible journalists to provide more mass media coverage of those issues and to encourage the general public to demand mass media coverage of those issues or to seek information from other sources.
Sonoma State University is one of the 21 California State Universities. It is a small but innovative liberal arts and sciences institution located 50 miles north of San Francisco.
I can’t say that many of these came as a surprise to me. But I am not part of the society in question and thus the censorship doesn’t really apply to me in the same way. But I’m still kind of saying to myself “why didn’t I think of this”. Looking back I actually reported on quite a few of these stories.
Here are the first 10 stories anyway. I REALLY urge everyone to take a couple of minutes to flip through the list.
