Hitachi RMA complete + Mobile

The replacement harddrive arrived by UPS today. About three weeks after initiating the RMA. The replacement unit was a 7K250 although sadly only 40GB, just like the RMA:ed unit. I guess they have a surplus of those drives since no one seems to want one. 40GB just doesn’t cut it anymore. Oh well. At least the HTPC will live again. And maybe even receive an upgrade .. like a new case for instance. Yes indeed. The case that I built is not living up to expectation and it fails the primary reason for existing - i.e. it is STILL too deep to fit into the TV bench. I’ve been reluctant to admit it. *sigh*

All in all I’ve been acting a little Ferengi lately …

I also got the new cell phone today. As I have mentioned before, the trusty Ericsson 868 broke down (the speaker malfunctioned, probably due to vibration damage and moisture .. LOL .. don’t ask :)). I really liked that phone though, despite the fact that it was over four years old and obsolete by anyone’s standard.

So the phone of choice became the Sony Ericsson T310 for a number of reasons. Mostly price and simplicity. Unfortunately it was no longer available from any retail channels so I had to scout the net for a second hand unit. Everything worked out this time though. No scam artists.

The advantages of this phone include IR port (will get an IRDA adapter asap) for easy customization, GOOD polyphonic ring tone support to harass people and a very long stand-by time (around a week).

I couldn’t help myself and immediately had to try the “13 second trick / master reset abort”. Wow. That sure cleaned out the phone nicely. No pictures, no ring tones, no games, no nothing. But it did give me some 670 KB free memory.

So .. bottom line, anyone who has been trying to call me lately. Please try again.

And btw. I installed a php script that enables anyone to download wallpapers (101×80) and midi ring tones from this site via WAP. Very nifty. Still working on having the blog output as WML but that is hardly a priority. Would be fun though. The wap archive can be found at: http://battleangel.org/wap. You can always preview the page with something like the M3Gate Wap Emulator if you want to. Currently the archive is a little limited and the ring tones are not optimized for cell phones, i.e. not edited / cut as I promised to do. Some are in fact quite big and will eat up a lot of GPRS bandwidth and cell memory.
