The pepper mill conclusion

Forgot to bring it up last week but the salt and pepper mill story finally came to a conclusion. I don’t recall if I’ve mentioned this before but I got a pair of really pretentious mills as a gift a couple of years ago. As with many pretentious things, form preceded function. As it happened, the mills were wood and cast iron and manufactured by the well renowned forge at Skeppshult. As it also happens, iron is a silly material to use in a damp environment like a kitchen and also for a SALT mill. You do the chemistry homework …
Adding to this, the pepper mill broke on me. It appears the actual mill component had been glued to the internal wooden structure using some kind of glue that apparently wouldn’t stand the kitchen environment or the wear and tear either.
The point is that after some arguing and a long wait I was able to get a refund for both mills. I strongly urge anyone in the market for a salt/pepper mill to think twice before getting a Skeppshult mill. Or anything at all from that obsolete company.
