If there is one thing that I hate it is when music that I want is being released in “lossy” formats that I do not want (and I thus can’t re-encode it into another lossy format).
Like MPC for example. Some audio geeks claim that MPC is the best of the lossy formats available. I have no idea. I’m sticking with LAME which is “transparent” at the VBR quality that I’m using. Plus I can play the files in any player whereas MPC is limited to PCs. I’m all for new technologies but in this case I feel that MPC adds little or nothing to the mix. Audio transparency is the point here.

I’ve managed to steer clear of MPC but no longer. Luckily the Winamp 2.xx plugin works with Winamp 5 like most of the 2.xx plugins.
