Not much happening around here. Not that there usually is.
Stuff. The water canisters that I was gonna get were out of stock. Probably for good. It figures. At 50 SEK they were a real bargain. I’ve seen the same model being sold for about 150-180 SEK elsewhere.
Can’t seem to let go of the grand kitchen scheme. I don’t know why I bother since I only ever do pasta and oatmeal but I guess I’m just a neat-freak who likes things to be in perfect working order. The roadmap to kitchen perfection seems neverending. At least today I was able to acquire two long standing items on the checklist, namely:
- Rubber laced non-skid serving tray (round / black).
- Oil atomiser.
About the oil sprayer / atomiser. Still trying to figure out the perfect mix but I’m thinking along the line of a 50 / 50 blend of water and olive oil. Note that you practically HAVE to dilute the oil with water in order to create a good mist.
While I agree that it might seem like a redundant thing to have around at first it’s one of those things that you soon wont be able to live without. You can even throw in a clove of garlic and some fresh basil if you like for an added bonus. The point here is that oil sprayers reduce the amount of oil that you use for cooking by distributing it more efficiently. And since the distribution is improved the final flavor of the dish is also improved. Come to think of it I’ve never seen a single cook use an atomiser and I’m unsure of why. Maybe they just like to prepare greasy and unsound dishes. Or they might just not be cool enough.
Games. I think the holidays have been pretty dull so far. Then again I’ve already taken a sneak peak at every single game that was intended for the season. Sigh. This constant stream of games has made me all too picky. Nothing seems to catch my interest for more than a couple of hours at best.
The latest game I bothered with was Firestarter, a mediocre shooter that no one will remember. ZZzzzzzzzzz.
Battle Royale 2. The DVD was released in Japan on the 21st and the fansubbed version has already hit the net. While not nearly as groundbreaking as BR once was it is still somewhat entertaining if you don’t mind plot holes and a kind of pointless story. There are some philosophical points to savour if you’re up to it.

Other media. Just finished with Seinfeld season three. That leaves seasons four - six. Also working on Underworld.
Digital camera reviews. The inevitable decision is drawing closer. To acquire or not to acquire. And if so, in what price group, and model. The big news last week was that Sony’s DSC-F828 started shipping to reviewers and customers alike. Unless Sony has screwed up this will be THE camera to get in that price group. The only real downside ON PAPER is that it seems to lack advanced stabilization like the Minolta A1 for example. It does however have exclusive features like RGBE and the Nightshot-or-whatever-they-call-it.
So far I haven’t seen a real review of the camera but some sample images have started to appear. Hmm. I’d rather have this camera with 5 MPixel resolution. You’ll end up paying for a lot of pixels that you will probably never use. Anyway, there are some promotion movies to watch over at Sony Japan if anyone is interested.
