As best as I can tell, the server was down from around midnight local time until late afternoon. No data loss and no explanatory email from the hosting company. Could have been worse I guess.

Also, I noticed a little something in the “random image” code that prevented “item pages” from loading. Just a fancy url related thing with absolute image paths. Stupid.
