Via FARK: Secret Russian weapons“ still terrify Americans

Ok, I’ll have to admit that it is a profoundly stupid title for an article. If it can be called an article even. All it does is list a number of not so secret but rather forgotten and unfunded missile systems that would be far more terrifying could they be deployed in the field. Missilethreat.com has got a somewhat more complete image for anyone who likes compulsory comparisons anyway.

The article does however bring up two interesting facts. One being that the defence ”shield” being commissioned by the US is only good against tinpot generals with very limited technology. The other is of course that even a broke superpower is destined to have some cards up its sleeve. And just because Russia has been out of the race for a decade doesn’t necessarily mean that other nations, like the US for instance, have bested them in every field. Believing so will lull you in a state of false security and might cause you to reinvent the wheel when it is already standing in a hangar rotting away (talking about the Buran of course).
