I guess so. You are right, there are certain advantages doing like they have. No one dept. will feel left out since the actual design work wasn't done in-house. If it had they would have had to leave it with the comp. science dept. and everyone else would have been pissed. And there is a chance usability would have been suffering.

Hmm. I guess it is meeting the requirements. Just not mine. But since I was never onboard I should probably leave it alone. Nothing that can be done about it now.

Well. Thank you for believing that :-) We'll see if I can put it to good use. Just need to find my niche. Time will tell.

I REALLY appreciate what you say and I agree for the most part.

It seems to me, however, that what you're calling for is for a coalition of people from various departments of the university to come together and design the website. Can you imagine?! If YOU were in charge of the website would you want to manage that? It would probably never get done.

This way the site is done. On time and meeting the requirements of the person in charge of making it.

Someone with your combination of good writing skill, technical knowledge and social education has a LARGE advantage in life. Your cross-knowledge and skill will stand you in good stead in the future.

And I must say certain people are too fixated on providing scalable fonts and warn about cookies than actual design work. Not to say they are completely unimportant, but it has become first priority for some people and that is a bit skew.

Aha. Mr Moya. Nice to hear from you again :)

I just think it's ironic how they have all the prerequisites to make a really good website themselves. I mean come on, they have one of the best comp. depts. in the country plus visual design and media.

But instead they outsource the project, use closed source and the people on their end who are in charge of managing the site have no clue.

Feels backwards. Again, not that this is anything unique. But since I come in contact with this almost every day it is starting to annoy me. Every polished exterior I have looked into has been like a waxed apple all rotten on the inside.

I once had so high thoughts of univ culture. But I am finally coming to terms with the fact that it is indeed a product of its time. I was naive maybe to think that this could prevail like an island in a social sea of corruption, rotten consultants and incompetence.
