While I haven’t figured out how to get the site back with Google permanently, I did notice one interesting thing as I installed the NP_Related plugin. I was browsing thru item 910 (one about the new Nightwish album that I wrote three days ago) and saw that I was listed top 5, and among the sites that the plugin fetched. That is odd. Not just because it was pretty damn fast. It even linked to the correct item .. not to the front page, or monthly archives or whatever.
At the time of writing this, the page rank is the same, but my theory is that Google will refresh the cache in a couple of days and thus drop the entry. Will keep an eye on the situation to determine the average life span of a typical battleangel post with Google.
Solutions I have been considering is creating monthly html archive pages and see if Google likes them better. Or actually email Google and ask them where the problem lies.
<Edit> 2004-03-16: Just checking. The item shows up on a detailed search, i.e. “Nightwish + Once + Info + battleangel“. But it is no longer being listed on the first 10 pages that Google generates using the same search terms as before. Erratic. Step two will be to drop it altogether I guess. </edit>
