Battlefield: Vietnam

The game is finally out. More info on Gamespot, Gamerankings or the official site.

I’ll see what I think about the game later on .. when I have it in my hand .. and the fearsome morning headache has passed.

Hopefully the game will be technically superior to BF 1942 and not just a big stand alone mission pack. I have to say I found the soundtrack and promo videos to be hilarious, in a positive way of course.

<Edit>
So, I got the game .. but can’t get it to work. After playing around with the settings I realized I could run the game in windowed. Butin full screen mode, the game stops responding when loading a map. Right about at 80% progress. The music keeps on playing as if everything is fine .. but nothing happens after that. And thanks to the anti-AltTab feature you’ll have a hard time shutting the game down as well.
And yes, I did allow for all refresh rates. And opened up the firewall. And removed the old gfx drivers and install the freshest available from ATI (v4.3).

<Edit> Got the game to work by doing .. something. I re-installed DX9.0b, re-installed the game and upgraded ZoneAlarm. There is now increased evidence that quite a few applications (Azureus for example) can’t co-exist with ZoneAlarm. We’ll, that’s their problem.

Haven’t had time to play the game really. But so far I like it. It’s just that I’m not a fan of the cramped maps in this game. At least not after having played BF1942 maps like El Alamein and such. What is wrong with a little space? </edit>
