It’s the ketchup effect I guess. Two days after Battlefield Vietnam. And just as I was about to catch some Z’s on top of everything. A jackpot by DEVIANCE it seems.
Unreal Tournament 2004 (c) Atari (297×15 MB)
NFO
Far Cry (c) UBI Soft *DVD* *FINAL* (74×50 MB)
NFO
What on earth have they included in UT2004 that makes it weigh 4210 MB … ?? This could take some time …
<Edit>
And now there is a also this: Unreal Tournament 2004 (c) Atari *DVD* 78×50 MB DEVIANCE. WFT?! Must be an extra DVD from the SE version or something. I’m not entirely sure about how the game is distributed. Ironically, it is the very same game. Just the DVD version. Had I waited a couple of hours I could have saved 4 hours worth of downloading and a lot of hassle. The amount of hassle depends on how the game deals with CD swapping during installation. With smart installation programs, you can obviously unpack every ISO file to its own folder and they will be found anyway. With crummy installation programs you have to burn the ISO files on a DVD-R and then mount them using Daemon Tools, one at a time.
Not sure how to get the game on DVD should you actually decide to buy it. I’m reading the box info here and realize it’s puzzling:
Unreal Tournament 2004 users will be able to join games on Unreal Tournament 2003 servers.
The official site has this to say:
Unreal Tournament 2004 DVD Special Edition will come in a limited edition metal box and will contain a Logitech Internet Chat Headset for use with the game’s exclusive voice-over-IP (voice chat) technology, as well as an Unreal window sticker.
For more information on Unreal Tournament 2004 or to download the free demo, please visit the game’s official Web site at www.unrealtournament.com.
For the rest of us the game is still shipping on CDR I guess? Which is a bit of a hassle since it makes 6 CDs overall.
