ZDNet: Google caught in anti-Semitic flap
Oh give it a rest. I think many out there, me included, will go like “aha, this really proves the point of Jew Watch anyway”. Self-fulfilling prophecies and all that. I wish this guy would see the bad psychology of what he is doing. I am convinced it will only hurt him in the end. If Jew Watch can even be labelled as anti-semitic, it is unlikely that it will sway anyone not already bent on that course.
I simply do not subscribe to the cause and effect theory of people like Steven Weinstock. To me, it is rather he who is the spark to ignite anti-semitism. Which is of course really ironic. And even if I am wrong here, the site is still legal and an expression of free speech.
Having said that, it is also important to note what a monumentally bad idea it is to censor search engine results. Once we start down that road we will have sold out and the entire idea of the internet will come crashing down. We do not want to see where that road takes us. No matter how high the price for staus quo is.
Edit: Actually it seems the Google indexing is now listing Jew Watch as the second result from the top (upping the Wikipedia entry). So much for that petition. As I have found out myself, the algorithms are as unbending and accurate as they are fast.
