Not much happening around here. This would be the midweek rant about nothing then.

MAMBO: Did a test install of Mambo Open Source CMS here. I just had to see for myself what all the hype was about. People have been calling it the overall best CMS and generally showering it with superlatives. So far I’m VERY impressed. You get a lot of functionality out of the package and the administration interface is just brilliant. No hacks required. I might use the system for another site or not at all. We’ll see. But I thought I would get acquainted with the system nevertheless.

EXAM: Oh, how ironic. You get an individual home examination that you know everyone will cheat on (at least if you think that abiding by the rules has got some intrinsic value - I do not however). The really unfair part is that this is one assignment that I am not suited to cheat on. My paranoid psyche tells me that this is yet another unspoken way to single out undesired elements from the group by giving out assignments that only socially adept people will cheat on. Is that irony or what?
Anyway, pace is slow, but I feel I will be done in a day or two. No need to rush what doesn’t need to be rushed.

NIGHTWISH: Got the final version of the Nemo single in my hand. Only another month to go before the album comes out. When I first sneaked a peak at the material a couple of weeks ago I wasn’t as impressed, but I can honestly say that the songs have grown on me. The actual albums songs (Nemo and Planet Hell) are actually quite good. Just different from before.

MUSIC IN GENERAL: Discovered another very pleasant band from Finland called Ensiferum. Their new album Iron impressed me a lot actually.
Also, got my hands on the Eurovision Song Contest album for 2004. All 36 embarrassing tracks. Actually some of the songs were quite ok. Not even Eurovision can mess up probability theory, i.e. monkeys and typewriters and that kind of idea. From what I gather there will be a semifinal before the real final this year. May 12 I think. Final is on May 15 anyway.

GAMES: Saw that Hitman 3 : Contracts just appeared. Not much fuzz about that and I haven’t even played the previous two games. Not my cup of tea. Too damn sneaky. Maybe it’s just that I’ve got an attention span of a five-year-old but I get so god damn frustrated with such games.
Manhunt is out also. Might be my type of gory slaughter however seems just as slow and sneaky. Crap.

MOVIES: They keep rolling in 24/7 here. A long time since I last was at the cinema though. Not so much because I’m a cheap bastard but rather because there haven’t been any good movies. Will go and see Kill Bill 2 any day now. Really.
Also, getting very stressed out about Hellboy not being listed with Swedish cinemas anymore. Not on IMDB’s release list for Sweden. The same is true for a couple of other movies as well. What the hell are these morons doing? By my very subjective estimates, the situation is worse than ever.
