Got a reminder from Erden Eruç about the Six Summits Project which is gearing up for the next leg and the second summit.
After losing his mentor Göran Kropp, who fell to his death while rock climbing together in September, 2002, Erden decided that it was time to make this dream a reality. He was inspired to add the mountain summits to honor Göran.
The result is the Six Summits Project, Erden’s quest to climb the highest summits on six different continents by human power. He will cross the oceans by rowing in a westward push to reach the next continent. Upon landfall, he will travel to the highest peak on that continent by bicycle, à la Göran Kropp, with all of his personal climbing gear in tow. There he will meet his friends for the climb. He will relay the journey and the experience to the students via the internet.
This really makes me wonder what I’m doing that is so important. Show me the person that wouldn’t want to drop everything and plunge into the unknown. Pushing the limits and living the dream. Striving to make the world a better place and to show that there are no boundaries.
And besides the Six Summits, there are also a number of Educational and Charitable Causes going on. Like the Göran Kropp Bishwa Darshan Primary School.
