Via GrepLaw: Swedish EUCD Further Delayed
The final suggestion of implementation was expected this fall and the new law should have come into force on January 1, 2005. However, due to a reported immense flood of comments and suggestions the department of justice may not be able to present its final suggestion early fall, which will not make the parliament able to pass the law before the summer of 2005, the earliest.
Swedish software pirates rejoice! This could be in for the long haul. If everything goes well, the delay could further Sweden’s position in the wired world and provide one of the last safe havens. For once it seems I have nothing to complain about. I’m living right where I’m supposed to. Sometimes bureaucracy is bliss.
