Finally broke my no-cinema track record for the season with Dawn of the dead. Reasonably bland movie though. A zombie flick with a limited scope, pretty much like 28 Days Later in that fashion. I do not see why, when the entire world is falling down, you choose to follow a handful of people trapped in a shopping mall. It’s like watching someone’s toenails grow.

Still, in one way a solid movie, if a bit gratuitously freakish and violent. Also I was pleased to see Sarah Polley return to a front line movie after some years being toned down. One of the few really good actresses of her generation even if it’s hard to show that in a zombie flick.

Haven’t seen the original Romero movies. Not a fan of moth-eaten horror. Not a blind follower of cult movies at all. As for zombies, I’m looking forward to Resident Evil 2.
