The other sites …

Occasionally I collaborate with people to help them create spiffy websites of all sorts. Usually nothing big, always non-profit and mostly for friends. Well, anyway, I’m gonna try to take this more seriously over the next term and approach the field in a broader and more encompassing sense. Put simply, I’m not always satisfied with [...]

Acdsee Classic

After having abandoned Acdsee 6+ and tried XnView for a while I’ve settled for ACDSee Classic. None of the other software can match Classic in terms of speed. It’s as simple as that. All other functions are secondary to that feature. And neither v6 or XnView have anything to offer when compared to say Photoshop. [...]

Hardware problems cont.

Have been working hard to resolve the lock-up / freezing issue or at least narrow down the problem to something that can be replaced or taken out in the yard and run over with the lawn mower.
I tried to roll-back the nforce drivers for my Asus A7N8X Deluxe mainboard using the nforce reset application. The [...]

Around-n-Over Six Summits

Got a reminder from Erden Eruç about the Six Summits Project which is gearing up for the next leg and the second summit.
Erden Eruç had dreamed about a human-powered self-propelled journey around the world since 1997. He also wanted the journey to be shared by children around the world. His goal was to turn [...]

Reaganology

I must admit I was a little surprised at the silly sentiments shown after the death of Ronald Reagan. As far as I understand it, this was the first state funeral for a president in decades. Everything to drum up nationalistic feelings and promote common stupidity, something that Reagan himself excelled at. All of a [...]

CIA: Secret Wars

Just saw the first part of the CIA: Secret Wars documentary by William Karel. Really thought-provoking material. Even if none of it is really a revelation. I guess that in summary the history of the CIA and thus the USA is shown in its true form. One cannot help but be stunned by the things [...]

Album: Nightwish - Once

Since the final retail version is out I thought I’d make a little extra note of it. The album seems to be selling well enough at least. According to the official site it sold gold (15000 copies) in Finland after just half a day.

Nightwish is back. Finally. It feels like a lifetime ago, [...]

Star Trek Omissions

I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Days and weeks seem to blur into one unrecognizable mess. I can’t even remember to turn on the television to watch Star Trek anymore. And by my standards that is as sick as it gets. Furthermore, in order to still be able to watch the series (Enterprise, which [...]

Bike revisions

Not much so far. Managed to get by with what I had lying around. Most notably I had to toss my rear Michelin Wildgripper Sprint tyre and replace it with one spare Nokian Ultra Tour. A cheap tyre by comparison and also touring as the name implies. Probably all for the better. The surface is [...]
