Well. It's still not a very good game. The facts can be twisted, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But the majority will be disappointed. Maybe we were expecting too much. And the situation that has arisen is impossible to solve. I don't know.

Sure, gameplay is in a way very true to the original. Only problem is, people are expecting more nowadays. Some (like me) want a Halo / UT2004 type game. Others want some sort of System Shock / Deus Ex / Jedi Knight. That being said, it is still an impressive game. Just not fun to play. Especially in the long run.

This is starting to smell like Derek Smart logic to me. "Oh, I'm such a genious, my games are so damn good, and all you stupid people are just too plain to appreciate them. Don't look at the final product, imagine what I was aiming for .. my implementation of code snippet X is groundbreaking ... blah".

Well, i guess everyone can have their opinion, but if your gonna bash a game, at least realise what the developers were going for.

Carmack wanted multiplayer to be personal, hence the 4 player limit. If he has 64 people running aorund, the game becomes impersonal, and the feeling of vengence is lost. He dident want vehicle combat, or uber alien weaponry, becuase Doom3 is living to the doom name, being visually advanced at its time, and having gameplay that satisfies the gamer.

What carmack dident want, was a Halo clone, which, sounds like you want halo 2 to come out now, in the doom3 box, you want a game that wont live up to its hype? Half Life 2. Ive palyted the leaked alpha, and i have to admit, its amazing, but Doom3 pushed it out faster.
