No, one cannot buy or bear arms in any way resembling most US states. In order to (legally) own such a weapon one has to be member of some sort of gun club and practise shooting there. Or apply for a special gun collector's permit. But as to what kind of weapons that lets you own I am unsure. Lots of red tape.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
But to carry such a weapon in public is still not possible (again, legally). And actually shooting anyone, no matter how good the intention, such as a burglar, will never hold up in court.&lt;br /&gt;
Sweden is a bit like Canada I guess. There are lots of guns in circulation, probably more than the US devided per capita, but mostly for game hunting. Assault weapons, revolvers and pistols are scarce.</description>
