Site changes: Themes

Tried and somewhat succeeded at making a new theme for Coppermine based on the current site design. Still a lot of elements left from the Rainy Day theme that I used for reference. But at least it can be done, the rest is just CSS and a few DIV and TABLE additions.
Hmmm. I REALLY dislike the way the Coppermine team borrowed the template system from phpBB. I couldn’t make a more difficult to manage and awkward customization system even if I really put my mind to it. Coppermine is a beautiful photo gallery script but this little hickup is preventing easy integration with other code and scripts. Such as with Mambo for example.

Also I smartened up the VideoDB template that I left in a semi modified state last time around. Now it actually blends with my default orange / gray theme.

Yeah, I agree that Coppermine is ill designed for theming. I think that the markup is not really suitable for css theming. Not only that, not all pages use consistant markup. Additionally, they use xhtml inconsistently. They should just stick to html I think.

Take a look at my attempt at theming Coppermine at http://moya.us/MoyaFamily/A...

True. Still you have managed to blend it pretty well into your design. Good work! I’m gonna take Coppermine to phase two here any day now and fix up the navigation buttons and make it a bit more consistent and easier to read. I picked a stupid theme to modify in the first place I guess. Hmmmm.
