Had a chance to see it and I have to say it’s another solid piece of work by Paul Anderson, the man who never fails to deliver a plot and avoid complete calamity, but has also never produced a critically acclaimed movie and forever remains a mediocrity. In this case however, mediocrity is good. One could accuse him of producing flat and dull movies, but if that is your opinion, maybe you have gazed deep enough to see the variations. And again, flat is good. Very little comic relief (and even when it happens it is dead on) and very little or no romantic dribble. Blessedly free of wedding bells, happy sunsets and other hoity-toity, high and mighty nonsense. I like him for his solid craftmanship and his simplicity, often refraining from throwing too much into the blender.
And besides, when compared to what else has been on the cinematic menu this year, Resident Evil 2 is gold.
