Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars

For starters I’d like to say that even though I enjoy certain elements of Farscape, it is hardly the quintessential sci-fi. While generally too much hysterical fannying about and slightly on the childish side, it also has some of the most deeply profound story lines and fulfilling universes of all series that I’ve seen to date. I guess one has to take the good with the bad.

Having finally gotten my hands on the Peacekeeper Wars, which is meant to provide the fitting end that season four could not, I’m more or less impressed. The two part mini series feels a bit compressed and forced on the one hand. Feels like every major character and every major plot line is blended together into one chunky smoothie. Also, I’m allergic to infants and all that romantic crap. Or at least to that extreme. Perhaps I just don’t enjoy sunset endings either.
On the other hand, there are bombastic scenes and epic space battles that make up for ludicrous folly. Hehe. Still can’t decide on whether I like Farscape or not. It’s flimsy but it is also a fun series. I’d say this is worth wasting a couple of hours on. Escaping reality is always worth it.
