The issue of therapeutic cloning is once again up for debate in the United Nations. Two conflicting resolutions have been put forth, one backed by Costa Rica (!), the Vatican, the US, various backward nations and whoever they can coerce or blackmail and one that is backed by everyone else.
Another, drafted by Belgium, would ban cloning humans but allow countries to decide for themselves whether they wanted to ban or permit therapeutic cloning for research.
Why any type of “cloning” (still don’t like the popularized term) should be banned is of course incomprehensible for me. But in the end, a compromise is far better than letting the US win. Thankfully, there are 191 member states eligible to vote on the matter and there is good chance the US gets put in place. It is also interesting that:
President George W Bush opposes all cloning while his Democratic challenger, John Kerry, backs stem cell research.
We knew that already of course. Just another reason why the republican regime needs to go. Or just learn to torture and kill its own citizens instead of imposing their twisted views on the world.
Another fine example of when the US chooses to take part in international affairs and the United Nations. Merely when it suits their agenda. If not, the logical course of action will be whine, intimidate, veto (thankfully not possible in the General Assembly), obstruct and possibly move on to political assassinations. All in the name of God, right.
You fucking religious zealots, you have already cost us centuries worth of scientific progress. And now you stand in my way to physical perfection and the path of transhumanism. Even immortality. You better watch your backs from now on. I’m coming for you …
