Countdown to … innuendo

You know the US presidential election is important when even Osama bin Laden finds time in his busy schedule to send a long awaited video greeting. I find myself forced to comment as I almost can’t believe the amount of media attention this is generating. Too much, too convenient. And with a big stinking pile of innuendoes.

If one assumes that bin Laden is indeed the man we’ve been told he is (and not an american operative for example) the question that is begging to be asked is what does he have in mind and what is with the timing? The outcome, as pointed out by political pundits, is most likely that the current US regime will remain in power. There is no such thing is coincidences. People do things for a reason and when that reason doesn’t make sense it is likely that someone else is pulling the strings. I find this to be the far most disturbing part of the message. Timing. But I guess it’s a PR thing. Never a better time to spin the pundits. And they sure are spinning.

Not surprisingly, I find myself sympathetic to most of the things bin Laden has to say. Birds of feather you know. None of it is really that outrageously unpredictable. Unless you have lived under a rock of the last couple of decades and missed what the US did to the world as we stood by, watching in disbelief.
Now, the real flaw with bin Laden is his antiquated sense of revenge and moral responsibility. But he is in very good company. I can’t say I would behave any more civilized. At least not if I’m the clearly disadvantaged combatant. The real problem is why the US continually participates in this hatemongering. And wont just draw the line somewhere, even though they can afford it. I guess that’s an economy thing. A powerful chaos engine that fuels the empire.

What probably pisses me off the most is the continuous efforts by US diplomats to gag Qatar based Aljazeera. Feeling a little queasy are we? Afraid that people might discover that bin Laden is really a quite nice chap that has just (like so many others) been driven to his limits by US aggression and dirty tricks? That, in fact, he is just an ordinary man that delivers a pretty compelling argument and that any one of us is a potential bin Laden in the age of radical democracy. Gives you something to think about, doesn’t it …
