No piracy for xmas?

I was going thru the onslaught of advertisement that one is subjected to around the holidays. And xmas being such a commercial sham and all, this holiday is no exception. One thing that struck me when analyzing brochures from various electronics outlets was that none of the three major local retailers in question had been actively advertising CD or DVD-R for the last couple of weeks. Something that they do regularly otherwise. Is that a coincidence? I think not. I think that with the recent hopeless plans from the entertainment industry to quell so called piracy, some branch of the same industry has been bullying the retailers not to openly push blank discs for the holidays.
I can concede to the possibility that there is no profit in writable media and that it is thus a distinct possibility that they do it out of their own free will. That conclusion is however not satisfactory from a consumer point of view either. And it is not considering of course that there is a tax on storage media that sees to it that there is little profit for resellers. Slam dunk for the entertainment industry! But I am aware of your ways and I see through them.
