After years of meddling and countless dead ends I have finally arrived at a solution that I can live with. The problems with the Epox mainboard (#1200, #1209) were remedied by a) getting another harddrive, namely a Seagate instead of a Maxtor and b) by replacing the G400 with a Radeon 9200. Config is stable. Network seems consistent. File sharing is working. TV out is working at least as well as with the G400.
