They say the third time’s the charm. That would certainly not be the case with the EPiServer CMS from Swedish ElektroPost. Twice before have I come in contact with them, once when the local university jumped the bandwagon and later when the city chose this CMS to power their website.
Now the local hospital (KSS), and indeed the entire Skaraborg group (SkaS) is committed as well and seem to have fallen under the thrall of EPiServer. Possibly with the entire western region, and God forbid, the rest of the country to follow.
I have stated before what I dislike about EPiServer and need not do so again. And since I am someone who does not believe in coincidences I feel compelled to look into this further. Who made the decision to buy the system? And what is the link to the other two organizations? Is there perhaps someone serving more than one master here? There is definitely something deeply disturbing going on.
In addition I found this entry over at CMSMatrix, where they estimate that the cost of setting up EPiServer is $13,000, not counting other hard and soft costs. Just so we know what we’re dealing with here. It’s not just utter crap and being marketed via informal social networks, it’s also utterly expensive.
