Darwinia is another game to make its appearance in early March. The gameplay is so terribly addictive and yet simple that I thought I’d make a note of it.
A virtual cyber reality, or artificial life simulation if you will, infested by nasty viruses. A little like first generation Populous in gameplay. And a little like Space Invaders. In fact it’s a retro paradise. Built-in sound emulator to mimic sound-scapes from classic arcade games. Vector lined mountain peaks and fractal generated forests. Weird. Psychedelic. Also qualifies as indie-gaming no less.

The world of Darwinia is a surreal and retro place, filled with epic fractal vistas and populated by iconic video game sprites from the past twenty years of computer games. Combining fast-paced action with strategic battle planning, Darwinia features a novel and intuitive control mechanism, a graphical style ripped from 80’s retro classics like Tron and Defender.
